AzwajApp

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 10, 2026

This is a working draft to launch with — please have it reviewed by qualified legal counsel for your jurisdiction before this becomes the live policy for paying users. Fields in [brackets] still need real values.

1. What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains what information [Legal Entity Name] (“AzwajApp”, “we”, “us”) collects through the AzwajApp app, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Marriage-seeking is a sensitive purpose, and this policy is written with that in mind — several of the app's design decisions exist specifically to minimize what we and other users can see about you.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email or phone number, date of birth, and password (stored hashed, never in plain text).
  • Profile information: details you choose to add, such as location, education, practice level, and what you are looking for in a spouse.
  • Photos: images you upload, shown to other users only under the app's modesty and match rules described in our Terms.
  • Verification data: if you choose to verify your identity, the document and selfie you submit are sent to our identity verification partner and are not stored on our own servers beyond the verification result.
  • Guardian (wali) data: if a wali relationship is set up, the wali's account information and the activity that relationship grants them visibility into.
  • Messages: conversations you send through the app, visible only to the participants (and, where configured, an acting wali).
  • Payment information: subscription purchases are handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we receive confirmation of a purchase, never your card details.
  • Device and usage information: device type, app version, crash logs, and a push-notification token, used to operate and improve the Service.

3. Notifications are privacy-conservative by design

Push notification payloads never contain a sender's name or message text — a notification tells you that something happened (a new interest, a new message) without revealing who or what on the lock screen of a shared or visible device. This is an architectural decision in how the app is built, not a setting that can be turned off.

4. How we use your information

  • To operate core features: profiles, discovery, interests, guardian oversight, chat, and verification;
  • To enforce our Terms, including reviewing reports and blocks;
  • To send service notifications (never marketing spam);
  • To improve the Service's safety, reliability, and performance;
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your data to serve third-party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

5. Who we share information with

  • Other users: only what your profile settings and match status allow — see our modesty and matching rules.
  • A guardian (wali): only when a wali relationship is set up on that account.
  • Service providers: our identity verification partner, cloud hosting provider, and push notification provider, each bound to use your data only to provide their service to us.
  • App stores: Apple and Google process subscription payments directly; we receive only confirmation of purchase.
  • Legal requirements: where required by law, or to protect the safety of our users.

6. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your profile data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, for fraud prevention or legal compliance).

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can update most of your information directly in the app, or contact us at [email protected] for anything you cannot change yourself, including full account deletion.

8. Children's privacy

AzwajApp is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, hashed credentials, and access controls between the app's modules — to protect your information. No system is completely secure, and we encourage using a strong, unique password.

10. International data transfers

Your information may be processed in a country other than the one you live in. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure it receives an appropriate level of protection.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email before they take effect.

12. Contact us

For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at [email protected] .
